In a recent news, it was said that Uttar Pradesh and Bihar spend the most on education in Northern India. Unfortunately, still, in these two states, literacy levels in the two states still lie stagnant.
Among these two states, UP spends 3.67% of its GDP in education system modernisation and Bihar doles out as much as 5.7%. Still, the average literacy rates in UP and Bihar continue to stagnate at 56.27% and 47% respectively. Two progressive states of India, Punjab and Haryana, spend 2.23% and 2.05% of their GDP on education respectively whereas Delhi spends 1.17% on education. Still, its literacy rate is 81.67%.
Actually, in our country, total average of GDP spent on education is estimated at 0.7%.
